This morning I started to read all the FB birthday shouts when I came across one that made me stop and reflect and even inspire me to get back on this blog after a year of abscence. It was from my eldest daughter Rissa.
Here's what she wrote:
"Happy Birthday to my main man! How you manage to raise six amazazing kids, love my hot momma unconditionally, and pursue all your wildest dreams drive me every single day to be just like you. I love you sooooo much daddy!"
Above the number of timeline shouts, above the early morning hugs, and above the surprise presents, I think one of the best gifts one can recieve is the gift of recognition.
When one of your eldest kids reminds you of your accomplishments and says they want "to be just like you" and that you "setthebarformyfuturehusband" it is one of the most rewarding feelings you can have.
A simple (but priceless) confirmation saying You did it well goes a super long way!!
I love life, I love my friends, I love my family, I love my job, and I love God. Nuff said.
